Welcome message

The Sri Lanka College of Sexual Health and HIV Medicine (SLCoSHH) is the leading academic and professional body in the field of sexually transmissible infections, HIV medicine, sexual health, and related prevention and program sciences in the country. Founded in 1995 and plays a major role in professional development and enhancing interpersonal skills between local and international professionals in the field.

I would like to thank the membership for selecting me as the president of the Sri Lanka Collage of sexual health and HIV medicine for the year 2023. As the current president I pay my sincere gratitude to all past presidents of the College for their valuable contributions to bring the college to this level today.

The theme for year 2023 is “Safeguarding the vulnerable within the practice of sexual health” aiming to introduce the concept of safeguarding into the sexual health practice in Sri Lanka in order to provide safe sexual health, free of coercion and violence and giving priority to prevent sexual exploitation among young people and women.

The SLCoSHH regularly conduct its annual scientific congress with the participation of renown experts in the field, which immensely help young scholars and researchers to gain knowledge, experience and skills in the field. Further, annual scientific congress is a great opportunity for expanding the professional network and exploring current and future perspectives in the field of sexual health and HIV medicine. I am delighted to announce, the 28th Annual Scientific Congress of the Sri Lanka College of Sexual Health and HIV Medicine which will be held from 12th to 14th October 2023 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo in collaboration with the National STD/AIDS Control Programme (NSACP) of the Ministry of Health. During the congress a range of topics on preventive and curative aspects of sexual health including HIV and STI medicine, viral hepatitis, triple elimination of mother to child transmission, program sciences and safeguarding young people and many more will be covered. Therefore, it is with great pleasure I invite you to participate and share your knowledge by presenting scientific papers/ posters etc.

In addition to our annual scientific congress there are other academic activities conducted by the college to maintain the professional standards. The SLCoSHH conduct monthly continuous medical education session where an expert would be invited to share their experience with our members. Further in each month the college organize a journal club to open up doors for our trainees to gain experience to review a wide range of academic journal articles under the guidance of a senior consultant. The Virtual clinic conducted by the college, is the forum for case discussion with active participation of consultants and post graduate trainees, facilitating an opportunity to learn as well as to share experience in order to provide best care and treatment.

As the president of Sri Lanka College of Sexual Health and HIV Medicine, I welcome all of you to the 28th Annual Conference and also would like to request everybody to join hands in our journey to deliver a healthcare enriched with quality and safety throughout the year.
